After 30 years working as an architect in many countries and on many different projects, I've come to understand there are two core fundamentals the same the world over that are necessary for success - passion and economics. Our passion at G2 is to make the everyday beautiful - a building, a drawing, even an idea. It’s a lofty goal, but it’s worth the effort. Couple this passion with sound economic reasoning, and you have the bedrock for great projects. Easy statements to make, but it's a commitment to a journey that has taken me half my lifetime to fully appreciate, and one that will take the rest to achieve - one project at a time! With my business partner and fellow architect Graham Applin, our practice’s primary focus is bridging the gap between design, professional consultancy and commercial development. We are a purposefully small team with a very personalised and highly-skilled service. By keeping our business small, compared to the large global backgrounds we’ve come from, we enjoy the luxury of picking clients to build partnerships with, clients who like to test and challenge ideas for commercial success. Only when we are convinced that the question is correct, do we start the journey to design the perfect solution. Graham and I are supported by a talented team of young motivated professionals who challenge us to keep our thinking fresh and inspired. We blend this with our deeper professional experience and commercial acuity. We regularly partner with other architects and designers in New Zealand and internationally, bringing global experience to benefit our clients’ projects.
