About Graham Hamstra
I recently graduated from the four-year-long Automotive and Vehicle Technology Bachelors of Technology program at McMaster University. Through the BTech program I have enjoyed working with and programming microcontrollers, embedded systems, and PLCs. I have also learned the fundamentals of mechanical engineering and automotive technology and applied these fundamentals to school projects and during my co-op experience. The BTech program has also allowed me to work with CNC machinery and 3D printing to create project pieces. I also have extensive modelling experience in Solidworks and other CAD software, which I have used to design school projects, and tooling at Wescam. I am experienced in modelling individual parts and assemblies along with the creation of associated engineering drawings. I also have experience in both FEA and CFD in Solidworks, along with experience in CFD in AutoDesk CFD. Recently I have been learning to operate Fanuc industrial robots, programming the robots through simulation software and directly using the associated teaching pendant and have achieved a Fanuc Certificate. The BTech program gives a balance of technical skills, management skills and communication skills. To be successful in a work setting this variety of skills is crucial and I am looking to now apply these skills in the mechanical, manufacturing or automotive industries.
