Since spending seven years in education, I now seek to broaden the scope of my career by dedicating myself to another conscientious, ambitious, and innovative project outside of the classroom. Ideally, I'd like to bring my skills and experience to a new role that delivers a social impact within a team with high aspirations. As well as a wealth of practice in education, the creative arts and charity I believe I can offer pragmatism, innovation, and integrity to the right organisation.Since qualifying as a teacher I have thrived within a variety of exciting educational settings from a community school in East London referred to often as one the country's most improved schools to an independent SEN school for boys on the Kentish coast. Outside of work, I strive to fill my time volunteering for causes which interest me. While living in London, I volunteered at Wandsworth HMP an inmate mentor, employing ‘motivational interviewing’ in order to compose a plan to carry out prior and subsequent to an inmate’s release. I also worked at a local theatre (Theatre 503), before then volunteering at Margate’s Theatre Royal.Since leaving university, I have been fortunate enough to travel extensively through Europe. This has given me a great appreciation of different cultures and backgrounds, as well as affording me perspective and sensitivity, something that has proved beneficial in the workplace. I nourish my interest in literature, namely by reading habitually and being part of a book club. The accessibility, relevance and transgression of the written word continues to inspire me. Contributing to the University magazine and later the local newspaper allowed me to explore the different ways in which words are consumed. More recently, I participated in a stand-up comedy course, culminating in a live performance at a local events venue.Elsewhere, I enjoy trying my hand at most physical activities. Before now, I have represented my town as part of the local football team and competed at county level in long distance running. I have recently completed a half-marathon and am in training for my next later this year.
