As part of the Insight team, I help produce bespoke reports commissioned by international law firms. The reports each relate to a specific practice area and geography covered by Chambers, and they explain the reasoning behind the commissioning firm's rankings, as well as providing suggestions on how the practice might improve its rankings. My role was initially focused on proofreading, but I progressed to writing and editing the reports. As a senior member of the team, I also provide feedback and training to colleagues. I liaise with deputy editors and other members of the research teams to ask for clarifications on decisions and update them with new information relevant to the rankings. I regularly attend training sessions to improve my knowledge of different practice areas and the ranking methodology. I have also taken part directly in the research process, which involved liaising with marketing contacts at law firms, conducting telephone interviews with clients and lawyers, analysing submissions, and making and justifying ranking decisions.
