'design realisation' is the name of a part-3 type, design project led, 6-week report project for a post-grad architecture design unit. with nicholas boyarsky, louise cann + duc le, started at oxford brookes 2 years prior.

tackling practice, projects and people.there are a hundred drawings that form a 30-year portfolio of projects revealing sensibilities about city, landscape and suburbia.

the range of getting the office equipped for the mid-east arts job, required a bit of focus both on content and recruitment. layers of senior to assistant architects, designers and thinkers required all round. the lehman brothers inspired economic slump was just starting and our hands were full keeping up the pace on design timetables, inter-office events and organisation. but most importantly the intellectual drive and content. there were many more heads into the idea and requirements to expand our reach.

from the early dates to a flourishing 180-some-odd full factory, 1990-2007 - plus or minus 'breaks' in between to see what life was like on the outside. from studio days to building phase. from practice managment details to initiating competition, bid and fledgling projects in the UK and elsewhere. i nurtured individuals and ideas. trying to emulate where and what zaha had inculcated in us in the early studio days.

working with friends from the AA, i was an assistant design tutor in the interior design school at north london, under angie pascoe; and assistant tutor, under hilary french, in the under-grad. school at kingston.

more a state of being

working with AA friends and colleagues under the direction of Sand Helsel, we changed the course of ACL's fortunes. inputting new techniques and ideas to the teaching patterns and course work. here was a truely international school in the centre of marylebone dedicated to a hybrid infusion of spatial design, from internal to external settings. but always interiors. from performance to landscapes.
