The position reported to the bipartite volunteer industry Board and Sub-Committees with a network of 900 stakeholders. SSSA provided strategic skills policy advice including input into National Training Package reviews and delivering collaborative industry projects with a focus on vocational education. This required facilitation between industry, government, unions, industry associations, major employers, Registered Training Organisations (RTO’s) and other local, regional, interstate and National stakeholders in the Retail, Wholesale, Personal Services, Sport, Recreation and Creative (Arts) industry sectors. SSSA won an SA Training Award (and was one of 3 National finalists) in 2011 for Industry Collaboration with the highly successful Retail Executive Program. This program involved over 1600 industry based graduates working for 200 employers with training provided by 21 RTO’s. Qualification completion rates were 90%. The Retail Executive Program involved managing over $8M of DFEEST funding over 5 years and included a dual qualification, mentoring, a career resource, a clear career pathway and six major graduation functions. Other significant projects include the Aquatics Attraction Project, the Hair and Beauty Workforce Development Project, the Creative Futures Arts Project, Workforce Impacts of SA Major Projects, the Airport and Western Region Skills Project and a range of community focused retail, hospitality and events Employment Programs with a focus on the indigenous communities. SSSA delivered over 50 skills projects and consultancies involving 4000 participants with over 2000 qualifications and skills sets creating thousands of employment outcomes including 200 + indigenous employment outcomes.
