Responsible for the delivery of Severn Trent’s biodiversity programme of work, I provide ecological leadership and advice to the business. Driving Severn Trent’s ambition to be an environmental leader, I am focused on protecting and enhancing biodiversity through the way we design and deliver capital schemes, manage our sites, and work with partners to benefit wildlife in the wider countryside.

Managing a small team of four, this was a critical role in supporting the management of the Coal Authority Contract. This included driving innovation, project management, and creating, planning and owning a long-term strategy Asset Management Plan. I managed any work undertaken by Severn Trent Services on behalf of the Coal Authority that was above the base Operation and Maintenance contract - with an average annual value in excess of £3 million Additional work included writing business cases to present the need for change, along with options, costs, risk & benefits before owning the change and driving the work through delivery to completion.

As the Technical Manager, the role focused on the day to day management of 6 employees and ensuring data confidence and accuracy in compliance with regulatory guidelines. This included:  Health & Safety assessments of the workplace Communication with other areas of the business, both stakeholders and regulators. Auditing of data Liaison with Contract Managers on contractor performance  Creating and maintaining of contractor scorecards / league table Completing reports on audit performance  Supporting training packages based on audit findings Being the company representative for matters relating to flooding and support the company Implementing process improvements to enhance efficiencies and confidence in the data heldDuring this time I also continued with my duties as an Out Of Hours Event Scientist

 Project management of the Polluted Surface Water Outfall programme Management of the macro invertebrate sampling programme - ensuring necessary evidence for prosecution defence Liaison with the Environment Agency, Local Authorities and other stakeholders Contractor management, ensuring delivery of outputs with compliance Production of technical reports Liaison and programming with Asset Planning, Capital Maintenance, Environmental Permitting and Engineering. Development and implementation of policy and guidance in respect of Misconnections and pollution control - including Water UK Good Management Practice for Misconnections  Contribute to R&D and innovation in relation to Misconnections Incident response – acting as event scientist and providing environmental advice and direction for the company, including liaison with other stakeholders – EA, Natural England, Local Authorities Support and direction to Legal department - with provision of mitigation/defence evidence - and Operational teams during Incidents and longer term investigations Water quality monitoring for long term investigations and also emergency incident response Input into Catchment Improvement Groups to contribute to delivery of WFD objectives Raise awareness of Environmental issues through stakeholders and media campaigns Creation and Auditing of Pollution Investigation reports

 Reviewing History & collating information from multiple systems Production of Sewer Flooding Investigation Reports Update Database for annual audit Accuracy and Quality of data responsibilities Identifying properties suitable for mitigation Ensuring customers advised of investigation outcomes Verifying data Responding to Flooding Related enquires/complaints Chasing resolution of outstanding work/action related to flooding.

Working within a larger team assisting in the transition of offices and supervising new team members, the role also involved intensive contact with customers, answering queries relating to waste water, arranging visits from Thames Water representatives, and ensuring an efficient and competent business was reflected to the customer.
