  • Tameside College
    Elearning Technologist
    Tameside College Jul 2007 - Jul 2012
Ashton Under Lyne, Greater Manchester, Gb
After leaving Tameside Council I then moved onto my current position at Tameside College where I have further developed myself from a mainly technical background to having teaching and training qualifications. My job role at the college is very varied and covers, managing and delivering staff training, delivering sessions to students, managing the college’s video production, maintain our Moodle VLE, managing the booking of ILT and ALS resources and developing classroom resources. I have the knowledge and experience necessary to plan and deliver training sessions across the whole college from SMT level down. The main achievements have been most importantly the college getting special mention in our Ofsted report for the eLearning provision at the college. This was because of our other achievements such as getting the VLE embedded across the whole college, custom developments of our VLE, recognised internal staff development that I deliver cross college. We even had other colleges visiting us to get help and ideas. Although I have no formal management experience I have been in charge of a small team for a number of months and am seen across the college as the person to go to when something needs doing. I am used to working closely with lots of different teams and departments, in particularly our marketing team whom I film produce all the colleges’ videos for. I am used to being involved in and helping manage big projects and working to tight deadlines, sometimes having to work very late to deal with a last minute issue. I have set up and successfully chaired an ePractioners group now for 3 years. I am constantly developing and improving my own knowledge as I feel that it is essential to keep on top of emerging technologies. With this in mind I am more than willing to attend any training that the college feels would benefit both myself and the college.
  • Tameside Council
    Vle Co-Ordinator
    Tameside Council Nov 2003 - Jul 2007
    Ashton-Under-Lyne, Lancs, Gb
I worked for Tameside MBC for over 3 ½ years, during that time I developed my role immensely from starting as a modern apprentice straight from college to becoming the VLE co-ordinator for Tameside. I began working for Tameside Council in November 2003 and after only 3 months I was offered a permanent position because my managers were impressed with what I had to offer. During my time at the council I have become well know in the North West Moodle community for the work I do at the council and spoke at the first North West Moodle user group on what we were doing in Tameside. I have successfully chaired the last four Tameside VLE user groups which all the schools using a VLE in Tameside are invited to and I have built up a very good working relationship with many Tameside schools because of the work I do with them. I was responsible for setting up the VLEs, providing demonstrations to schools on what the VLE can offer them, and once the school had a VLE in place I was responsible for providing the administrator training to that school for staff at all levels, I then provided ongoing support to all the schools via a helpdesk system. I really enjoyed my job and loved working with the schools and seeing their VLEs develop with my help and assistance, and get great pleasure out of helping my customers with any problems or questions they may have.
