I love nutrition.Ever since my pudgy middle-school years I have had a fascination with how the food we eat effects us in so many ways be it physically or mentally. My parents would tell me to "eat less, move more" but this seemed to me at the time to be very lazy way to address a problem I and many others face in childhood. This message, embraced by the medical community is a drastic oversimplification of one of the largest problems our modern world faces.This obsession has lead me to pursue a career in nutritional research, where my skills in data analysis, epidemiological study design and knowledge of programming languages can help produce valuable research results and policies which will limit obesity, diabetes and cancer. My specialties include learning new skills and programming languages, problem solving, and effective communication. So far I have SAS, GIS, R, SQL and Unix languages under my belt. I am seeking to improve my proficiency in Python and Tableau in the near future. Particular areas of nutrition research that I find fascinating are community interventions as well as the relationship between food and genetics.
