I'm a tax professional. I have been since I joined HMRC in 1976 (leaving in 1979). I spent 8 years in specialist practices after that (farming and Lloyds underwriters) before moving in Barclays Bank for 12 years and then RBS for 7 years. I left to join a "tax house" called Future Capital Partners in 2007 who focused on tax advantaged investments, film, IP, property etc. My particular role there was primarily renewable energy and financial products. I was made redundant in 2014. Looking for an opportunity to try out some ideas, I joined Rebus. The idea was to build a tax function for them. Didn't really work out and I left in January 2015. The only lasting effect of that stay was that I met Rhys Thomas with whom I started WTT in March 2015.WTT is a tax enquiry firm with an emphasis upon complex tax schemes and contractors. We have grown from Rhys and I to now 13 full time staff and two other businesses, a Co-Operative and a Legal firm. We are proud of WTT. We bring cutting edge analysis and technical argument to a group of people who would not usually be able to afford it. By pioneering a group model, envied and copied in our sector, we have been able to resist HMRC's incorrect position, the claims of promoters seeking to enrich themselves again and crucially prepare clients for future challenges.On a personal level, I do like to travel and luckily have a wife who shares that pleasure. Am a keen (but not very good) clay shooter and a Saints fan. Try to keep fit in the gym and on a bike with varying degrees of success.
