Co-developing vision, objectives and curriculum for future masters program. Facilitating communication and planning between professors and administrators at both participating universities: University of Roskilde and University of Bergen. Acting as liaison to communicate the value, importance, and relevancy of the program to the two university departments involved in sponsorship. Ensuring the application is in full compliance with the requirements of Nordforsk and the University.

Organized initial efforts to establish a new research network focusing on circular mobility in the african-europe context, selecting 12 researchers and coordinating a 3-day seminar to develop collaborated research vision and strategy for the direction of the network. Drafted a strategy for funding acquisitions and communication, ensuring compliance for EU and DFID application processes, obtaining funding to start joint Masters program in Migration. Compiled a state-of-art and co-wrote initial research for work package: ‘The Governance of Migration in Africa’.

Central And Southeastern Europe

Spearheaded effort to build a regional response in which after eight months the organization was providing protection, psychosocial support, and NFI (non-food items) in more than 20 refugee camps, across 6 countries, with more than 400 employees and volunteers. Organized initial needs assessment trips for all response locations, which included developing response strategies, creating monitoring and evaluation practices catered to each country, and designing training material on response strategies, contingency plans, and cultural awareness. Managed regional finance, reporting and compliance with stakeholders, facilitated weekly meetings with country coordinators, drafted communication strategy, and attended summits to present our vision and response.

Advised the regional taskforce in ways that strengthened policy and institutional frameworks for development, humanitarian, and resiliency programming across the region. Conducted training with local leaders focused on project implementation, efficiency, and monitoring, evaluation and learning processes (MEAL). Evaluated grant applications and operational funding, assisting in an increase of 20% in funding acquisition for 2015. Acted as liaison between key donors and regional and local employees.

Suhareka, Kosovo

Partnered with local organizations in community development projects to provide opportunities for people from different ethnicities to work together. Facilitated conversations with local leaders and youth on conflict issues in a post-war community that illuminated and addressed cultural tendencies and histories of animosity, hatred, and stereotypes. Developed relationships and connections within the community by playing basketball with the local professional team.

Chisec, Guatemala And Chacraseca, Nicaragua

Organized an initial task force to assess various health needs, identifying local and specific causes for cyclical poverty and general health vulnerabilities including: stunting, malnutrition, clinical access, and infant mortality. Partnered with local organizations to develop projects in agricultural microfinance, preventative health, and school supply distribution. Developed M&E programming, as well as a financial reporting system and trained local organization leaders in practices of implementation.

Bangkok, Thailand

Established an education facility that provided three lessons a week for displaced Hmong children lacking access to schooling due to language barriers and “illegality”. Provided English education for leaders of the Hmong refugee community as they applied for asylum in English.

Developed contacts and negotiated with local logistic firms to procure pro bono warehouse space for storage of collected unused medical supplies. Established contact with personnel in local hospitals and facilitated meetings that provided information on how to collect unused medical supplies.
