• Provided Project Management and support to the petroleum industry to clients such as Suncor Energy, Shell Canada and Brookfield Global Integrated Solutions in projects ranging in size from under $100K to $1.2M. Managed the writing of scope of work and specifications, assembling, monitoring and awarding of tender packages, pre-qualification of contractors and suppliers, tracking costs and scheduling and coordination of work on site. Major projects included: above ground vertical tank cleaning and API 653 inspections, painting of aboveground horizontal and vertical tanks and associated piping and internal cleaning of underground horizontal tanks. Created and maintained database of client’s above ground vertical tank data for all Western Canada and utilized it for scheduling of regulatory inspections and tank painting. Reduced clients painting costs by 50%.

• Provided drafting and design support for the downstream petroleum industry for retail gas bars, bulk plants, card locks and aviation facilities. Additionally, provided standard development, completed development permit, building permit and petroleum permit applications, construction drawing packages and as-built drawings. Client base included: Suncor Energy, Shell Canada, UFA and many independent owner/operators.

• Managed team of auditors that routinely visited the demolition, construction, remediation and maintenance of petroleum sites comparing the work practices in the performance of tasks on site to existing provincial and corporate health & safety programs & procedures. Participated in site safety meetings, identified potential health, safety & environmental hazards, and coached site personnel toward behavior-based safe practices, which assisted in the reduction or elimination of injury, work disruption or property damage. Client base included: Suncor Energy and Imperial Oil.

DEAN & Associates Inc., Calgary, Alberta. 2001 - 2005.• Managed team of co-workers involved in the reclamation and remediation of abandoned and operating oil and gas facilities in compliance with the guidelines outlined by Alberta Environment, routinely performing Phase I, II, III and detailed site assessments. Implemented several in-situ and ex-situ remediation techniques ranging from excavation and disposal of impacted material, construction of one-time or multi-use bio-piles and bio-cells, and installation of single or dual phase recovery systems. Projects included the source removal and management of impacts associated with: flare pits, underground tank removals, pipeline failures, reclaiming abandoned leases, and site decommissioning. In addition, visited several oil and gas facilities twice a year for monitoring purposes. These site visits included the collection of soil and water for analysis. The purpose of the analysis is early detection of impacts associated with the facility as this avoids lengthy and costly remediation.

Exploratory Research in Oil Sands - Collaborated in the design, construction and operation of a 3D oil sands deposit model. This model was used to research & develop methods used in the exploitation of the oil sands reservoirs.• Environmental Group – Collected soil and water samples for analysis used to delineate extent of impacted soils and test experimental in-situ remediation of abandoned well sites and batteries.
