Responsible for overseeing the information and communication technology infrastructures for the company and creating organisational IT policy, together with providing strategic planning and project management.Providing project management and organisation of a staff of technicians, programmers and support specialists in order to deliver all major development and modifications to the internal / external business systems and network.Plan and oversee the implementation of all major modifications to company-wide IT infrastructure.The main direction of the company has been to provide XML interfaces with trading partners and suppliers in order to integrate trading systems to deliver the sales of goods and services across the internet.

Involved in designing, developing and implementing a re-write of the motor claims handling system. Working as part of a small team this was the most radical change to the system since the Company started trading and ultimately becoming the UK’s largest motor insurance provider.Previously implemented a national EDI solution for the recovery of monies between the Company and the Government. Working under a management contract, duties included :- System and Business Analysis and design- Liaison with external business parties (ABI, DSS, Insurance Companies)- Development, coding and testing (Online, Batch)

Employed as a contract Analyst Programmer to design and implement a new mainframe data extraction solution for EDI transmission across to a management information system. The agreement was repeatedly extended to allow a move to the support team, where skills were directed towards :- Creating solutions to facilitate business system requirements.- Resolving production batch and on-line failures.- Implementing user requested system development and enhancements.

Employed as a Project Manager to install a new Supply Chain Management System from scratch. My responsibilities were to ensure a total solution was provided to replace three separate non Y2K compliant mainframe legacy trading, accounting, order and billing systems.Over the course of twelve months, the processes that took place under my control were as follows:- Creation of project schedule and all necessary reports.- Data conversion and take-on.- User training and acceptance procedures.- Parallel test runs.- Post implementation enhancement and support.Under my direction, an entirely new trading system and NT4 network was created and installed. Data conversions from the existing mainframe applications were coupled with interfaces to remaining mainframe systems to provide seamless integration allowing the Company to continue to service a Customer base of over 18 million names.

Employed as an Analyst Programmer to implement a long-standing requirement for an EDI Electronic Fund Transfer system to pay suppliers of Woolworth’s goods without issuing paper cheques. Interfacing directly with the existing Walker mainframe trading system, the project needed to be co-ordinated to conform to strict audit requirements for security and fail safe design. Close liaison between users, systems developers and external Banking parties had to be maintained to ensure delivery of a solution that met with the Company’s philosophy of right first time.

Employed as an Analyst Programmer to control the implementation of a CICS trading and billing system rewrite, together with retrospective batch data conversions to create new file keys and amend record layouts necessary to integrate the region with several other business systems.Responsibilities included using project control and resource management skills to ensure all necessary functions were performed during the project life cycle including :- Analysis of existing user and system functions.- Meeting with key users to establish requirements.- Creation of project schedule.- Documentation of new system design and business processes.- Coding batch and on-line programs.- Creation of comprehensive user acceptance procedures.- Timely implementation and roll-out followed by user support.

Employed as an Analyst Programmer primarily to use EDI skills to implement procedures to allow Customer data keyed into new SAP systems to be transmitted through to COBOL legacy systems.Delivered batch procedures to populate DL/1 and VSAM records, together with on-line cross reference lookup routines to ensure parity between systems. Contract extended at Nestle's request to continue servicing adhoc requirements such as management report requests, amendments to stock control systems, daily batch and on-line program abend analysis and correction, plus user requested trading system enhancements.

Analyst Programmer involved in maintenance, support and enhancement of existing trading systems.Solely responsible for analysis and creation of an EDI environment allowing new business to be received and processed from external point of sale terminals. The project required off-site fact-finding meetings, together with liaison with a number of third-party software houses to arrange trading relationship agreements, message convention standards and broker training. Extreme deadlines imposed by business competition were met, allowing the Company to continue to take on motor insurance risks that would not have been viable without the capability of using EDI technologies.

As a member of an Advanced Operations Exploitation Team, spent 3 years involved in automating responses to system console messages issued using Rexx programming scripts, providing :Automatic / Remote IPL procedures, automatic problem logging to IBM Netman software, event driven batch run scheduling, automatic CICS start-up / shutdown and housekeeping applications, heartbeat monitoring of critical systems and disaster recovery procedures.Also involved in a Datacentre Integration project successfully resulting in two separate mainframe installations being harmonised and relocated to provide data processing services for existing business and a new acquisition.

Senior clerk. Responsible for administering changes requested to Personal and Company Pension Plans such as payment frequency, switches between investment funds, lapses and reinstatements of life assurance cover. Responsible for validating work of three clerks, reporting to section leader.
