With the merger with Arbor, I continued in the Senior Presales role, learning additional applications from Hyperion for budgeting and consolidation. Hyperion launched Hyperion Planning and Hyperion Financial Management for consolidation, and I took on a Sales role at this time to help launch these new products in the marketplace.

Arbor Software revolutionized the database industry with the first user friendly OLAP database platform. They were also one of the best software companies to work for and I was pleased to join as their first employee in Canada. I applied my presales knowledge and accounting education to determine the best solutions for client's needs. Arbor encouraged innovation and creativity and these were certainly valuable traits in positioning and selling the software. They merged with Hyperion Software in 2008 to form Hyperion Solutions.

Platinum Solutions (now Epicor) had just introduced a client server version of their accounting software and I was recruited into their Presales Consultant role. It was a heady time for selling the latest and greatest software and our team tore up the Canadian marketplace, achieving highest sales territory in the world.

I had the distinct pleasure of working with Harvey Gellman, a true pioneer in the Canadian IT landscape. Harvey was well respected in the industry and brought me on board to head up their Decision Support System service offering.

I was with Execucom just up until the acquisition by Comshare.

This is where I really cut my teeth in the software business. On my first day I was shown a brand new beta version of the IFPS software, and given a week's deadline to build a demo. This was the start of a great run as a Presales Consultant. I learned all you could about the software, and listened carefully to prospective client's needs, then translated those into a solution that satisfied the customer. I used my accounting education to great advantage by applying principles to specific business issues, and to learn all I could about complex financial situations (ie. currency, intercompany, consolidation).

Since I had worked with Decision Support Software tools on my co-op work programs, I found myself keen to work with these tools more, so I joined the software vendor world as a consultant and trainer. I really enjoyed what these solutions could do in the fields of budgeting and consolidation for clients, and I built a solid reputation for doing the right thing for each client.
