I helped start and build what the Financial Times described as one of the world's ten most innovative law firms. My experience encompasses complex transactions, litigation, and government (where I held the highest-level national security clearance), as well as fractional GC work. Many of the matters I handle touch on technology in some way, such as patent, trade secret, data privacy, although I've also handled corporate investigations, auditing, breach-of-contract, tort, insurance, and false advertising. I've worked with a wide array of technologies, including SaaS, software, computer networking, optical transmission, semiconductors, telecommunications, automotive/vehicle navigation, biotechnology, medical devices, laser, payment networks, and Internet and IoT. I've navigated in various European and Asian legal regimes in addition to the U.S. My clients range from startups to global multinationals as well as a variety of financial (hedge and PE) firms. I've been asked to testify before the U.S. Congress and speak at the U.S. Justice Department and the Federal Trade Commission on matters of legal policy involving technology companies. I've also served multiple times as an expert witness on matters involving IP and antitrust. I've been named one of the Top 100 Lawyers in Illinois and, for the last twelve years, designated as a Super Lawyer. IAM Magazine included me on its list of the world's 300 leading IP strategists every year since 2012.
