Since leaving 1 Gray's Inn Square, I have been trying very hard to give up crime! Legally aided crime, that is. I decided that joining a new set of chambers - having only ever been at 1 Gray's Inn Square - and impressing a new set of clerks with my willingness to travel 150 miles to someone else's Crown Court mention was not for a person of my age! I now run my own small practice, dealing with privately funded criminal defence and common law matters. In 2018, I gained authorisation from the Bar Standards Board to conduct litigation, and now visit the County Court more often than the Crown Court. Whilst the vast majority of my clients now come to me through Direct Public Access, I remain happy to accept all instructions suitable to my areas of expertise. In particular, I have provided my services to Solicitors whose main practice area is not criminal law, but have a client in need of representation whom they would rather not send to another practice. I am always happy to see such clients at Solicitors' own offices. In 2020 I loved with my partner to Keswick in Cumbria where my practice resumed under the name of Lakeland Law. I am also a co-owner and director of Keswick’s Alhambra Cinema. Paradiso!

Advising and representing parties in dispute over contractual, landlord and tenant, and other common law matters; dispute resolution and negotiation. Served on Chambers management committee and as Chambers Secretary; resigned my tenancy in December 2016, as a result of chambers' decision to become Mansfield 1GIS.

Took graduate diploma in law (GDL/CPE) at City U. in 2006 to refresh my "stale" law degree, and BVC at ICSL ("City Law School") following year.

I helped grow this company from its earliest days as a small producer of corporate video. When I left, it was one of the UK's largest independent providers of broadcast facilities, operating a fleet of six outside broadcast trucks and extensive post production facilities in Sheffield and Leeds, and had just completed the acquisition of a competitor company in the field.
