Temporary Caseworker and administrative assistant to the executive. Responsible for responding to various requests, complaints and enquiries from members of the public addressed to Philip Glanville, Mayor of Hackney via email, telephone and letters. Liaising with heads and other administrators from various departments within the council. Editing and redrafting Mayor´s responses to enquiries. Organising casework via intranet database, GSuite, eDocs, and when necessary, researching specific council related enquiries online and via other departments in order to respond to these enquiries. Developing knowledge of executive council policy of issues from Anti-Social Behaviour, Parking and Residential, Parks and Leisure, Housing, Education, and other specific areas of council matters.

Roles/Duties: Advocate for vulnerable adults (relevant person’s representative) at Cambridge House Advocacy. Responsible for ensuring the wellbeing of clients who lack capacity according to the Mental Capacity Act and detained under the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguard; visiting clients in care homes across London and the wider UK to build a rapport through regular visits, and to offer representation should disputes or objections arise on behalf of clients or other parties. Initiating legal proceedings via the Court of Protection on clients’ behalf if requested and supporting clients though the legal process and court proceedings. Liaising with social workers, care home staff, solicitors, doctors, mental health professionals, other advocates, and family members in order to best represent the needs of clients; Submitting reports to local authorities detailing clients’ current wellbeing and if the legal conditions attached to the authorisation under which they are detained are being met; Applying legal knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguard, Care Act, and the Court of Protection.

Teaching classes as a cover/supply teacher at secondary schools in various locations across London, teaching all key stage 3 and 4 subjects.

Working in conjunction with UIMP and Berlitz in numerous locations around Spain; including Madrid, A Coruña, Barcelona and Santander. Responsible for teaching conversational English classes to University students of varying abilities using a practical methodology. Teaching Humanities and Social Sciences to more intermediate and advanced students using a combination of practical methods, debates and interactive lectures as a vehicle for improving the student’s knowledge of English language through the medium of Social Sciences.
