. Delivered the IT Infrastructure and Networks to support the new Nationwide Internet Bank and Mobile banking platform. . Project managed a series of power and cooling upgrades at the Society's two core Data Centre sites also undertaking remediation activities to remove single points of failure in power delivery to core equipment and consolidation of IT hardware to free up floorspace to facilitate pre-provisioning of cabinets and network infrastructure for future growth.

• Provided client direction to the Construction programme delivering a new independent 2,600m2, £120m Data Centre within an existing campus.• Project Managed the IT deliverables, which included a significant provisioning of IT hardware and structured cabling as well as WAN, LAN, Storage and associated control systems to provide a ‘base’ infrastructure build.• Maintained detailed co-ordination between the IT and Construction elements to ensure the building deliverables such as power, cooling, cabinet deployment and cable containment met IT deployment requirements.• Delivered the Data Centre into live operation on time and budget, despite slippage in construction activities.

• Identified suitable sites and managed the tender and contractual processes through to successful supplier selection.• Led the fit out 900m2 of segregated Data Hall space in the selected third party site to enable deployment of Test and Disaster Recovery systems.• Delivered Wide Area Network connectivity, structured cabling, and a base IT build to enable project deployment into the new facility, also developing the management processes and providing additional staffing to support the Data Centre. • Managed consolidation and decommissioning activities to preserve the remaining capacity within existing Data Centres while the new location came on stream.

• Programme managed a £10m upgrade of the Data Centre facility, maximising capability and capacity within the existing building constraints whilst maintaining service operations.• Commissioned areas previously used for tape, print and dispatch activities to support increasing IT production capacity demand.• Upgraded the engineering infrastructure to its design capacity and included the delivery of a high-density water-cooled solution for blade server technology.

• Led the team delivering IT Infrastructure platforms to support consolidation activities following the purchase of Wealth Management Company Gerrard by Barclays.• Worked with the client to define the approach for integration of IT systems, and the migration of staff and systems from the head office of former parent company Old Mutual.• Recruited and managed the core project team that delivered upgraded infrastructure platforms for UNIX, Market Data, Windows, WAN, Telephony and firewall services.• Administered elements of the project relating to staff transfer via TUPE from Old Mutual into Barclays.

• Managed two projects to strengthen the Banks cryptographic controls on Tandem and Mainframe systems following directives from a group wide security audit.• Evaluated a number of third party software products for Tandem, completing commercial arrangements with the selected vendor and rollout of the product.

• Managed the Infrastructure elements supporting the migration of major processing systems from Zimbabwe to the UK.• Developed bespoke service management processes to facilitate a split model, with UK data centre hosting services and operations functions run out of Zimbabwe.

• Managed a team of seven Project and Transition managers streamlining support functions by integrating Woolwich Head Office IT roles into centralised Barclays areas.• Developed a robust process to evidence to senior management that knowledge transfer had been successfully undertaken prior to agreement that functions could move.• Migrated Production IT systems from Woolwich Head Office to Barclays Data Centres.• Directed the HR elements of the project overseeing Woolwich staff through change and cultural integration into the new parent organisation and managing the release or redeployment of resources displaced as a result of the integration.

• Undertook Client Management control of activities required to complete a £23m upgrade of mechanical and electrical systems, including new construction works within the Gloucester facility as part of the site’s transformation to the groups main live Data Centre.• Managed the high profile sale and closure of Barclays Poole Computer Centre including migration of IT systems, staff relocation, decommissioning the site and handover to the new owners.• Managed the successful migration of four live Payment applications running on legacy UNIX systems onto a strategic hardware platform, providing improved manageability, consolidated DASD provision and synchronous data replication to a remote site.• Implemented UNIX infrastructure and network connectivity to support a new International Cheque Clearing Operation utilising imaging technology.• Delivered the transformation of file transfer activities to and from Bankers Automated Clearing System (BACS) from a tape based solution to high-speed network data transfers.• Led one of the first migrations of Tandem systems from use of reel-to-reel manually mounted tapes to the shared utilisation of a StorageTek automated cartridge sub-system.
