The university is an amazing place to work and continues to be a rapidly growing creative institution - with that come a generous amount of opportunities and challenges. This is why I enjoy working here, as it allows me assist other co-workers whilst testing my level of skills and problem solving. These challenges do not always arrive conveniently at your door, so I am great advocate of getting out there and talking face to face to those who require our assistance. This allows me to demonstrate another important value that I hold, which is how to evaluate and communicate, what can sometimes be specialist accounting treatment. Pitching it at the right level and in such way, that allows the stakeholder to understand the situation, assess their options, in order to make the right decisions.Why do I enjoy bridging the strategic with the operational level? Well I still get that buzz which comes from achieving a difficult reconciliation or finding a new faster way of tackling an onerous or outdated process. I take great pleasure in understanding how the business works and the associated stories that come with it. And by marrying these two elements I am in a position to inform and change those perceptions at both levels which can be surprisingly polar. These are the elements that bring the numbers alive.I am a Charted Management Accountant (CIMA).
