In this role I push R&D projects, deliver technical talks on a range of topics, and draw on my background and experience to help our clients find concise laboratory solutions to complex issues.

Management of Geology Department (Petrography, XRD, SEM, QEMSCAN, etc.) and core description services and software.Coordinating the geoscience aspects of clients' projects and working with operators and geologists downtown to ensure we meet their needs.

Worked with software engineers to develop, test, and implement a new core logging application with full lab integration, aimed for now at the oil sands market. Highly user-friendly, efficient, and accurate, with depth correction via logs/FMI/V-shale and dragging stacked cell-images, and with a fully user-customizable suite of geologic features.Also worked on projects relating to portable core logging equipment, improvement of Core Gamma logging techniques, mining core photography, and hyperspectral imaging.Presented technical talks at the CSPG Geoconvention in 2013 (on core drilling disruption, mud invasion, and possible post-processing mitigation) and 2014 (on comparing core V-Shale determined from geophysics, core image processing, and particle size distribution).

Provided an array of geological services essential to both petroleum and mineral resource exploration and development projects, including:-Drilling program support (core description, sampling, quality control procedures, drill site supervision, and general program planning and management)-GIS modelling, complex data management and interpretation, and geologic mapping-Grass-roots exploration program leadership-Mine site geological operations and management-Training/teaching-Resource project analysis and investment research

• Logged complex cores of McMurray Formation SAGD-area oilsands in detail• Trained new recruits and junior core loggers in description techniques and efficiencies• Gained expertise on the geologic setting and sedimentology of the Athabasca oilsands

• Depth-corrected and described cores of McMurray Formation mining-area oilsands• Selected samples and performed quality control checks on photos, sampling and transcribing• Acted as temporary supervisor when lab supervisor absent

• Completed a 5000m two-drill gold exploration program with two other geologists• Marked drill pads, water sources and access roads prior to the start of drilling• Trained and supervised employees in geotechnical, core cutting, sampling and QA/QC procedures• Provided detailed mineralogical and structural descriptions on the cores

• Responsibilities included: o Supervision of underground and core logging geologists, geotechnicians and two diamond drills o Management of daily activities of the geology department o Liaising daily with supervisors from the mine, mill, safety and environmental departments o Planning and oversight for exploration programs, interpreting and reporting results o Design of definition drilling programs and performing tonnage calculations for ore bodies o Supervision of and participation in mill-feed grade control procedures o Production of 3D computer simulations, cross sections and a GIS database for the mine site• Initiated structural, petrographic and metamorphic study programs• Planned and executed >10,000 m of diamond drilling in 150 holes• Delineated 150,000 tonnes of ore bodies grading approximately 5 g/T Au• Reported directly to company President, Mine Manager and Chief Geologist

• Introduced processes to increase core logging rate by 80%• Depth-corrected, analyzed and logged cores of McMurray Formation oilsands on a tight deadline• Developed strong knowledge of the geologic formations of the WCSB and heavy oil resource plays

Taught 3rd and 4th year Geoscience laboratories and tutorials in mineralogy, igneous and metamorphic petrology, and crystallography. Led two field school courses.

• Produced detailed reports reviewing 50 Canadian publicly traded uranium mining companies o Assessed geologic viability and development stage of each exploration project o Calculated financial stability/commitments of each company using SEDAR documentation• Populated a custom GIS database to improve analytical methodology• Analysis of one company provided critical information for an option agreement investment in uranium holdings in the Otish Basin, QC

• Led a two-man uranium exploration/prospecting team• Completed detailed structural mapping and analysis, producing digital maps with Surfer, ArcGIS• Managed, synthesized and interpreted data; prepared final and progress reports
