Grainne was appointed CEO at Karitane, a 101-year old Affiliated Health Organisation in NSW, in 2014. She has built a 35-year career as an experienced CEO and senior executive in the health and not for profit sector across tertiary and quaternary health care facilities in Australia and the UK. With extensive health and community experience, she has led advocacy and significant contributions to the health and social policy reform agenda including holding a number of National Board Chair, NED and Advisory Committee roles. This includes State and Commonwealth Government Inquiries, Position Papers, Strategy and Policy Reforms. She holds a current position on the Social Economic Empowerment Advisory Committee with state and federal colleagues. Grainne has strong governance and company secretary skills as a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and holds a Masters of Business Administration (MBA). She is the current Chair of two National member-based organisations, the Ability Roundtable and the Australasian Association of Parenting & Child Health (AAPCH) and holds three further NFP Board Director appointments on the Association of Childrens Welfare Agencies (ACWA), Kindship and is the immediate past-President of the Health Services Association of NSW (HSA) – Affiliated Health Organisations (AHOs). With a strong commitment to evidence-based practice, she has achieved several academic research partnerships with high-profile universities and institutes nationally and internationally and is a partner investigator on a number of MRFF, ARC Linkage, NH&MRC and CRE initiatives. Grainne is committed to clinical excellence, training and workforce capacity building. Karitane leads the largest Masters in Child and Family Health Nursing courses in Australia in partnership with Western Sydney University for over 20 years, training students, new graduates and advanced trainees. Grainne has led Interdisciplinary Training projects at St Vincent’s Health Network in Sydney. Grainne is a transformational leader who has built strong team cultures through a values-based approach.
