As Publishing Manager and Art Director, I have directed both cover design and interior illustration for all titles, been centrally involved in manuscript assessment, editorial and commissioning, as well as managing Little Island’s social media, digital presence and PR. I manage international rights sales and represent Little Island Books at Bologna and Frankfurt Book Fairs, meeting and liaising with publishing houses worldwide. Recent successful commissions include Tangleweed and Brine by Deirdre Sullivan, winner of the YA Book of the Year at the Irish Book Awards in 2017 and the CBI Book of the Year in 2018, and Star by Star by Sheena Wilkinson, winner of the CBI Honour Award for Fiction 2018 and shortlisted for the Irish Book Awards 2017.

Freelance storyteller for adults and children specialising in Irish tales. I tell mainly in schools and libraries but also at festivals and private parties. While Publishing Manager in Little Island I served as a board member of Publishing Ireland, a body that serves and represents the publishing industry in Ireland. As Chair of the training subcommittee, I organised courses and speakers for the members of Publishing Ireland, and gained extensive knowledge and connections in the various areas of publishing in Ireland outside my own focus of children’s literature.

Digital Hub, Dublin, Ireland

A cloud-based social ‘gamification' platform that teachers use in the classroom to encourage positive behaviour, motivate students and engage with parents. I was responsible for character and story development for the animations as well as blogging and social media presence on all platforms.

Following an email I wrote to RTÉ Junior expressing my disappointment at the lack of programming for young people around books, illustration and story, I was hired to write and present a weekly radio programme on RTÉ Junior Radio. Little Pages was developed to help parents and children choose high quality, enjoyable and well-written books for young readers (ages 5-9). This was followed by a second programme for older children, The Word, which included author interviews and a parents segment. I was responsible for choosing books, script writing, recording and editing.

12 month course on all aspects of children's literature from picture books right up to young adult and crossover fiction. My Masters dissertation examined the influence of satire and the Romantic poets on the children's poetry of A.A. Milne.

Scriptwriter for upcoming children's radio programme based on culture and heritage in Ireland. Responsible for choosing the topics and writing twenty-six scripts in all.

During my M.Phil I worked part-time with Little Island Books, gaining experience in publicity, blurb writing, manuscript assessments and the general running of a children's publishing house.

Following my undergraduate degree I took up a full time internship for three months in Lilliput Press. I gained experience in proofreading, copy-editing, general office and computer work as well as publicity, social media and interaction with authors and customers.

Employed on a three month contract to complete a specific project. This involved comparison of legal and procedural documents in Ireland and Sweden. I completed it to a high standard and was offered further work.
