I am a a pharma medical affairs and clinical development executive with a background encompassing serving as VP Medical Affairs for Oncology/Urology at Sanofi-Aventis US, VP and Head of Medical Affairs for Rare Diseases at Genzyme, Medical Affairs Lead for OPKO Health Inc., and Head of Medical Affairs for Exosome Diagnostics. Across my executive roles, I have spearheaded or played an instrumental role in the launch of eight pharmaceutical products across oncology, urology, and rare orphan diseases as well as two prostate cancer diagnostics.Additionally of note, I have led six disease state Registries (two in urology/oncology in the US and four Global Registries for Lysosomal Storage Diseases) as well as publication and scientific communication teams across multiple therapeutic areas and built Medical Scientific Liaison (MSL) teams in Urology/Oncology and Rare Orphan Diseases.Over several decades with Tufts University, I have served as Professor and Chair of Urology at Tufts University School of Medicine, still holding an appointment as Professor of Urology. With internationally recognized expertise in urology and urologic oncology, I have also held numerous leadership positions within research and professional societies, including a term as President of the New England Section of the American Urological Association. I serve on the editorial boards of multiple national and international scientific journals.Offering startup mentorship and scientific advice and experience on topics related to rare diseases, oncology, urology, biotechnology and clinical trials, I have fostered extensive collaboration and interactions with executive teams; board, finance, compensation, and audit committees; and task forces with focus on overall direction, strategy, and effective resource planning. From my roots in Trinidad, an academic foundation in Ireland, and global medical affairs leadership, I have a deep appreciation and advocacy for diversity and inclusion efforts. I was the first person of color to head a major major department at Tufts, and the first from the Carribbean-American to head a major medical department in the USA.
