I have recently moved to Edmonton as a Principal at Dialog to provide leadership to the Edmonton Mechanical Group and build the engineering practice. This has built on my experience in Calgary at Dialog and Stantec successfully leading the mechanical practice groups. In this role I am responsible for Business Development, Project Management, Design, Design Review and Peer Review, and Project Delivery. Dialog is an established Architectural/Engineering Firm with multiple disciplines, a truly integrated design approach, and a reputation for supporting projects from design to occupancy and beyond. Dialog Principals are hands on and directly involved in project work.I have been involved in the mechanical building industry for more than 20 years with a wide variety of project types. This has included experience with large institutional projects such as Health Care, Laboratories, Post-Secondary Facilities, and Airports. My experience also includes commercial work such as Retail and Light Industrial Facilities, Building Audits, and Commissioning. This project experience has incorporated various delivery methods such as Design-Build-Specification, Design-Build, and P3; as well as several large multi-phase, multiple tender fast track projects.I have been involved in Sustainable Design since the beginning of the LEED rating system and continue to push the envelope to achieve greater building efficiencies. This is balanced with a practical approach to project budgets, technical complexity, and operator capabilities. This approach includes life-cycle costing and system selection early in the design process to determine the best value solution. The integrated design process is very important in this process and we strive to influence project team direction early in the project by providing energy modelling feedback on almost every project. BIM technology and the potential for integration of the entire project team is also a focus for the Dialog project team.
