Having successfully designed and executed the operational process for the Lodging Business Service Agreement between Suncor and Syncrude lodge accommodations, feeding logistics, and ground transportation solutions to support the remote workforce, was asked to lead the complex strategic and tactical integration of all Suncor and Syncrude Field Logistics workstreams (remote accommodations, transportation, food service, facilities management and office services, light vehicle fleet management, central analytics, traveler planning and services, aviation, ground transportation, and corporate expense management) to support Syncrude’s integration into Suncor’s operational model.  Led the integration efforts with exceptional results in a complex matrix environment, supporting and collaborating with our Field Logistics workstreams, engaging and aligning between Suncor and Syncrude stakeholders, and presenting early opportunities and efficiencies to Executive level leadership driving synergies and efficiencies through the integration process. Drive and oversee the ongoing execution of integration efforts as they relate to Field Logistics, impacting more than $700 Million annual spend (which will grow to $1B combined spend after full integration) including technical related services (SAP and Workday integration), traveler planning service integration (to Suncor’s online commercial and charter traveler planning tools), and operational optimization and efficiency strategy and implementation in all Field Logistics workstreams.

After delivering sustained logistics operations in Fort Hills, was redeployed to replicate and transfer best practices to the collaborative operational project between Suncor and Syncrude, leading and negotiating the pilot Lodging Business Service Agreement, and delivering Field Logistics operational oversight and support to Syncrude through a services agreement. Tasked with leading and directing the Suncor Major Projects construction teams on the Field Logistics processes and operational procedures that allowed Fort Hills to be such a success, and support future construction turnarounds, and outages most cost efficiently and effectively. Awarded a Suncor President’s Operational Excellence Nomination in 2019 as the lead operational negotiator to ensure the successful delivery of the Lodging Business Services Agreement between Suncor Energy and Syncrude Canada. Assessed and implemented an operational team within Syncrude to effectively assume the Lodging function within Syncrude, successfully overseeing their base business and Turnaround planning and delivery. Tasked with expanding the collaborative oversight of Field Logistics functional areas to include ground transportation, aviation, food service, fleet vehicle management, and facilities management.

Promoted to senior management position overseeing all field logistics functional areas for the Fort Hills Oils Sands operation, working with Major Projects Construction group and Fort Hills Operations as the primary internal clients, and accepted an expanded team from 5 direct reports to 8 direct reports and a full organization of 15 people. Accountable for preparing and managing $500 Million annual budget for logistics (accommodations, transportation, food service, and facilities) in the Oil Sands for Suncor Energy, representing more than 2.5 million room nights annually, a peak fleet of 260 coaches and workforce busing, managing and overseeing a team of 8 direct reports and peak workforce of more than 1200 union and non-union workers. Continued to lead the lodging operations team to sustained utilization efficiencies in the Fort Hills region, and excelled in the new accountability areas of ground transportation leadership, strategic aviation planning for Fort Hills, and travel integration planning with the Suncor Travel Services team. Acknowledged as the operational leader in hoteling concept for workforce housing across Suncor, who championed operational process, implementation planning, and integration success with other support services (transportation and food services), accountable for accommodating and supporting 10,000+ workforce on site. Recognized for co-leading commercial contract renegotiations and optimizing lodge operations resulting in $40M annual cost savings and cost avoidance in the region by driving operational flexibility, and pure cost reduction initiatives. Awarded Suncor President’s Operational Excellence Finalist for successfully increasing room utilization to 95%+ average (from less than 70%) in less than 18 months, and increasing cost efficiency by 30+%.

Led the management and staff of the Operational Support function for 25,000+ security staff deployed during the London Olympic and Paralympic Games. Oversaw the strategic planning process of logistics services and delivery for the British Ministry of Defense (MOD) and G4S operational teams, providing assurance over the entire support services delivery project (which includes the asset management over accommodation, travel, transport, cleaning, catering, & waste, uniform distribution, equipment, and consumables) for LOCOG Executives and the UK Government, while managing a £60 Million (approx $100 Million) budget. Identified and led contract negotiations for workforce logistics, including highest level presentations at White Hall (UK MOD), and the City of London, to support the requirements of security personnel. Met all deadlines & expertly negotiated multi-million pound contracts to support the regionally dispersed teams and regions throughout the UK. Developed optimization strategies via operational and commercial KPIs for contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders to be managed against all Operational Support functional areas. Identified risks and threats to all Operational Support functional areas, and designed and implemented risk mitigation strategies to deliver seamless operations.

Delivered operational and system design processes to improve efficiencies and effectiveness for Aeroguard’s non-union and union employees (CATSA) at Vancouver International Airport. Worked in parallel with the VP Operations for Aeroguard, and reported directly to the CEO. Drove operational improvements and efficiencies in airport operations for all staff, focusing on traveler experience without compromising security efforts. Developed shared services structure for Aeroguard’s airport operations to streamline processes, policies & procedures, and thereby reduced overhead by 25% and increased labor efficiency by 60%. Redesigned silo work environment into a cross-functional, multi-purpose administrative team, and built KPI`s to improve performance and cut costs by 30% while improving skill set across all.

Managed and implemented full support services plan for the G8/G20 Summit project, overseeing all accommodations, transportation, and food service integration planning for 2,000 security and police force personnel deployed in Toronto and Huntsville, Ontario. Delivered 49% actual cost vs budget via strategic supplier negotiations, complex financial forecast modeling, intensive daily management of perishable inventory (empty rooms), and overwhelming awareness of current operations and business needs. Responsible for the leadership and management of a support services team of 20 people engaged in the detailed logistics supporting the Summit.
