As a Kitchen Sales Designer in Magnet, my role is to inspire the customer through great design and excellent service. My duties are to welcome new customers into the showroom, ensure they are comfortable and relaxed with everything they need to hand, and offer them the kind of personalised, friendly and professional service they expect from such a well-established kitchen brand. Calling upon my years of design experience and excellent product knowledge, I take the customer through the inception, design, confirmation and purchase stages of the process onto installation and project completion and aftercare, offering expert knowledge and advice at every step to ensure that buying the kitchen of their dreams is as smooth and satisfying as it should be. The role involves liaising with suppliers, installers and specialist contractors to ensure each element of the project is brought into alignment at the right time to meet with the customer’s expectations and deliver a truly exceptional service experience.

My former role involved preparing complex tenders for new construction developments, so keen attention to detail was key. Working from architect's drawings, I produced CAD layouts, elevations and perspectives for each plot, managed the specification which frequently included social housing and accessibility requirements, calculated installation, generated cost spreadsheets and then formatted these elements into a presentation pack which could then be taken to market. This role necessitated a strong aesthetic sensibility, being highly self-motivated and methodical in approach, working closely with architects, interior designers, contractors and specialist trades in order to deliver an accurate and consistent product within the required time frame. In addition to my key responsibilities, I have trained and supported numerous members of staff into the role and offered my significant experience as a resource for them to draw upon, and also worked as part of the Benchmarx Product Development Panel to aid the company in the evolution of their product and help identify which items on the market best suited the needs of their business.

In my previous role as a kitchen surveyor I was charged with handling the planning and site survey components of the products we supplied to major housing associations in the Hampshire, East Sussex, West Sussex and Greater London areas. Key responsibilities were identifying and meeting the needs of tenants, planning in CAD and ensuring that the correct stock is ordered from for delivery and installation. I acted as a site liaison between Benchmarx and the customer, making sure that their work could be carried out as smoothly as possible. During quieter periods, I would support the colleagues in my local branch to help them with the sales and design of their own projects.

Starting out as a shop floor colleague, having finished my degree I quickly moved into the showroom side of the business as a Showroom Assistant (helping with leadtaking, customer service, product guidance and design) before moving up to Design Consultant; here I was responsible for offering first-class service, helping the customer select the product that best met their needs, undertaking the design and technical aspects of their project and finally by ensuring that through good aftercare they were completely satisfied. The job necessitated a passion for design, customer service and sales, requiring that I be able to work effectively as a member of a team, employ good time management skills and achieve target sets in order to meet the requirements of the business.
