Professor Grant Pitman has over 20 years’ experience as an adjunct professor, associate professor, and senior lecturer at the QUT and Griffith Universities. He has been an advisor to 8 private and public universities’ research and academic centres and held 2 TAFE ministerial appointments. Grant has retired as President/CEO and Professor at Private Higher Education providers- Leaders Institute and Global Leadership Institute. He is also a former Director of the Research and Policy House. He has served in the Queensland Police Service for 40 years with 20 years as a senior commissioned officer in executive positions. During his career, he has chaired or been a state representative on over 55 national and state committees associated with policy development for government and policing outcomes including several major reviews of the organization. He has been responsible for 24 state and/or national corporate services programs for the government and policing including their policy development. He has presented at 6 parliamentary and public inquiry committees reviewing road safety, emergency management, police corruption and management. As a result of his police service, he has received 18 national and state awards including the Australian Police Medal.He studied emergency management and published about 50 articles and book chapters on applied policing and related topics. Presented about 20 papers at national and international conferences in Australia and New Zealand. Grant’s private sector work includes directorships, minister of religion and committee member for 10 national, state and local committees or companies associated with politics, religion, scouting, drug and mental health programs, unemployment and homelessness, truancy & chroming, anti-graffiti, youth suicide, domestic violence, technology advancement, education consultancy and research.
