About Grant Quick
I have worked with some of the world’s largest organisations and helped them build strategic roadmaps for their technology future. This requires both a high-level and a detailed view of organisations and their supporting technologies. Bringing these two extremes together is my happy place.I began my career in the detail as a software engineer. While I still enjoy software development, I found that I needed to be out with customers so I could understand the real problems that the software was trying to solve. This took me into the world of consulting.After some success in consulting, I was promoted into management and made responsible for my company’s American operations. I threw myself into this role and grew the region from virtually nothing to the largest and most profitable in the company. Although I enjoyed leading an operation and keeping all parts of the region operating smoothly, I missed applying my technical knowledge as regularly.This led me to the role of CTO and eventually to the senior solutions engineering role that I serve today. These roles have allowed me to marry up my interests in business and technology. This is where I find many unaddressed problems that are exciting to solve. Often, it is because of breakdowns in communication between business and IT. I enjoy working as the intermediary between the two.I love staying up to date on technology trends and you will often find me at industry conferences. I love sharing my knowledge, so it’s not uncommon to see me at the lectern or joining a panel discussion.When I’m not learning new technologies or solving wicked problems, you will often find me training for my next race. I have completed numerous marathons as well as an ironman triathlon. I love to challenge myself, whether it’s personally or professionally!
