As a remote Student Intern with TCM, I've learned technical skills in Microsoft Office that I would never have otherwise. And the impact I have is highly visible; editing potential textbooks for students K-12 is highly rewarding as I get to read what the next generation will be seeing in their classrooms and ensure there are no errors getting in the way of their success. Through seeing the different paths states take with their standardized curriculum, I have become more aware of the potential of education and how necessary empowering our youth is to confronting the barriers that divide us globally.

Working for the Office of University Advancement as a Phonathon Caller required confidence, exemplary interpersonal skills, and listening abilities from the start. I was responsible for calling university alumni and current student parents, connecting them to the University and asking for their help in continuing William & Mary's mission to provide quality education to all of its students. I often encountered people who were hostile or cautious and learned ways to deescalate situations to have real, meaningful conversations about how the William & Mary could do better. Through my work, I gave dozens of people the opportunity to support students in their educational journeys at the university through club, scholarship, and major-program funds.

As a part of the Andy Kim for Congress campaign, I helped write memos on potential contributors to the campaign as well as avid supporters, and I learned how to use call time software. Through this work and others, Andy Kim and the campaign was successful at reaching out to hundreds of donors in a grassroots effort based on voter connection. This is why it was important that members of the campaign, including myself, personally reached out to donors to thank them for their contributions and ask them what they wanted to see from Andy Kim in the future.
