Interim Internationalisation Lead In School Of Life Sciences
I completed a one-year secondment as interim Internationalisation Lead within our School of Life Sciences at the University of Dundee. Within this role, I worked within the School to enhance and deliver the internationalisation strategy, working with the Associate Dean (International) in the implementation of new international ventures, maintaining existing external relationships with the school and recruit and support incoming international students.

Senior Student Recruitment Officer And Regional Lead For England
Following an enjoyable time working as Student Recruitment Officer, I was delighted to earn a promoted role as Senior Student Recruitment Officer within the same UK and Europe team. This changed my remit to overseeing student recruitment for the University in the North of England and West Midlands, and with this role I also lead the strategy for our pre-application on campus events. This includes the biennial residential Teachers and Advisers Conference held on campus which welcomes Teachers and Advisers from across England, Wales and Northern Ireland to the University to discover more about the University of Dundee and the options available for students joining us from further away. In addition to this, I organise the main University of Dundee Undergraduate Open Days in which the University opens its doors to all potential applicants who wish to find out about particular subjects, explore the University campus and participate in many interactive activities. Visiting a potential University is an important aspect for anyone considering higher education, therefore it is essential for the University to provide an engaging, informative and exciting experience for those visiting at the Open Days. This role involves a considerable amount of traveling throughout the UK and so it is important to stay organised at all times to manage responsibilities both in the office and on University recruitment trips.
Student Recruitment Officer
After 7 months as a Graduate Recruitment Assistant, I earned a permanent contract and moved to the Student Recruitment Officer position that was available in the same team. Within this position, I am the lead contact for school engagement in the South of England and East Midlands. In this role, I proactively seek to build and maintain relationships with teachers and advisors within these regions by attending events both at schools and UCAS Higher Education fairs across the UK. I also organise dinner's based within my target area in which teachers and advisors can learn more about The University of Dundee and Higher Education from both myself, students, and various lecturers and academics from the University. I have a large and varied knowledge of the admissions process and the benefits of studying in Higher Education which are crucial in attracting students to study at The University of Dundee. I travel throughout the UK both within my own target area, and outside of this to support the rest of the team. This creates a unique and challenging combination of both office work to analyse school leaver data and plan trips away, and working away from the office for the majority of different months throughout the year.
Graduate Recruitment Asisstant
I am a Graduate Recruitment Assistant within the UK/EU Recruitment team at the University of Dundee. As part of my role, I attend recruitment events across the UK and represent the University of Dundee at UK Higher Education Conventions and schools/college events across targeted areas. In my role, I give engaging presentations to parents, teachers and school pupils on recruitment related subjects, developing their knowledge of both the university admissions process and of the University of Dundee itself as a destination for future applicants. With the support of other recruitment officers in my team, I help create and build relationships with different staff across the UK, from careers advisors to teachers. Working as a close team ensure we maximise our potential in our target markets, and help students to make an informed decision when choosing their universities. I have a unique mix of office based work and travel between schools around the UK. When I am in the office, I work both with my team and individually on specific projects, and assist with admission queries over the phone, by email and in person. When travelling to different events and schools, I relish the opportunity to be the face of the University when speaking to pupils and teachers and thoroughly enjoy creating a positive and welcoming atmosphere.
Customer Representative
As Customer Representative, I am expected to be the face of the branch and as such provide excellent customer service to every customer. Once this is achieved through a friendly face and a warm greeting, it is my responsibility to assist the customer in day to day cashier transactions such as deposits and withdrawals. In addition to this, I am constantly working as part of a close team to provide referrals to the in branch customer consultant who can help the customer manage their savings in greater detail.
Colleague
Working in this role part-time throughout my time as a student, I was able to develop both my communication skills, and enhance my ability to work well both as part of a team and individually. It was also necessary as part of this role to provide excellent customer service to ensure customers felt able to ask questions and create a pleasant shopping experience. I was also responsible for the stock management in the fresh department, maintaining this through recognising when an item was out of stock and why, and understanding when an item should be replenished. Being a fresh colleague added extra duties through 'date code' given the short shelf life of many food items, managed by reducing items in price on the day of expiry and ensuring there were no out of date items on the shopfloor as per regulation.During my time at Asda, I also received the colleague of the month award for July 2014, recognised out of over 300 members of staff.
Intern At The Environmental Department
This role was provided as an optional module in my 2nd year of University, and gave me the opportunity to use complex computer software, in particular Geographical Information Systems (GIS) to map Health Walks in the Dundee area. My duties during this role were to use GIS to map a suitable route in various areas of Dundee and work closely and report to two team members with my finished project. As part of the university course, I was required to write a report detailing the ways in which I used the GIS software, and how I mapped these particular routes.
Voluntary Sales Assistant
As part of my role as a voluntary sales assistant, I was required to work in a variety of roles as a result of the small team in the store. These were as varied as working as a cashier to managing stock levels in the back of the shop, a particular challenge given the amount of donations the shop can take in one day. When working as a cashier, it was important to be at hand if a customer needed help and go above and beyond to attend to the customers needs.
