Here’s what I love about being an HR leader…I thrive when I'm partnering with fellow senior leaders to drive a business strategy. I’ve seen how strong HR leaders can help drive business results in both union and union-free environments through their talent. I’m known for making the complex simple – and ensuring that my teams don’t just go through the motions, they understand the overall HR goals and strategies and how to continually grow the organization. Since my University of Michigan days, I’ve known my calling is in HR and Labor Relations. I love helping people find the work that will not only pay the bills, but also help them build lifelong careers. Creating an environment where people trust each other, care about each other and want to collaborate is imperative. Giving the best talent lots of solid reasons to stay put—and grow is a must. This was especially important during the pandemic and in this post-pandemic world.Looking ahead, HR as an industry will continue to face the complex issues of an evolving workplace and increased employee expectations about blending work and life. Where people work, how they share information and ideas in remote locations, and how to continually build community when colleagues are not always just down the hall. To address these challenges, my work is focused on the employee experience from when and how they are sourced, how they are onboarded and developed and what will continually engage and inspire them to be the best they can be. The war for talent will rage on, and I’ve cultivated a team that will continue to win. At a time when employers are scrambling to find the people they need to succeed, our record for hiring 25,000 top-quality candidates a year is holding steady. My team has the secret sauce…
