Over the past 40 years Dr Webb has undertaken a number of teaching and leadership roles across a variety of educational contexts, both nationally and internationally. He has had extensive experience working in both primary and secondary schools as well as in the tertiary sector. While working for the Department of Education in Queensland, Australia, he has been a classroom teacher, Learning Support Teacher, Educational Consultant, Director, Executive Director and School Principal. Dr Webb is well known for his work in literacy education within the state and nationally. He has been actively involved with the Australian Literacy Educators’ Association (ALEA) including undertaking the roles of Local President, National Vice President, National President and State Director. Dr Webb was appointed as the Chair of the International Development in Oceania Committee (IDOC) and held this position for 4 years. In 2013, he awarded Life Membership of ALEA.In addition, Dr Webb was Team Leader for the Queensland Government’s Professional Standards in Qatar Project (2007/8). Dr Webb has been recognised in a number of forums for his contribution to education. In 2002, he received the Australian Prime Minister’s Millennium Medal: For distinguished service to education. In 2011, he was the Recipient of the Director General’s Bursary for Excellence; and more recently in 2012, he was a Finalist, Australian Institute of Management – Professional Manager of the Year.Dr Webb recently finished as the chair of the national Early Childhood Policy Group (ECPG) and retired from full time employment as an Assistant Director General with the Queensland Department of Education.Dr Webb is currently an independent Educational Consultant.
