He reduced stock-holding, increased stock turn dramatically and cleared significant amounts of old or discontinued lines. He carried out a full Watch and Trend review from the Basel watch and jewellery fair, a report bought by companies like Piaget and Chopard in Switzerland. Grant started as the watch buyer and merchandiser and progressed to Merchandise Director before being appointed Managing Director in 1989, only the fourth Managing Director in the company's history. The company was sold to the Asprey Group in 1992. Grant remained sole buyer until the company was sold taking responsibility for all purchasing.
