Grant started as the watch buyer and merchandiser and progressed to Merchandise Director before being appointed Managing Director in 1989, only the fourth Managing Director in the company's history. The company was sold to the Asprey Group in 1992. Grant remained sole buyer until the company was sold taking responsibility for all purchasing.
