I have just finished my Masters in Materials Science and Engineering (3.9/4.0) at Stevens Institute of Technology and before that my Chemical Engineering Bachelors (3.8/4.0) at SIT as well.My background and passion for materials science and polymers stems from learning about there versatility and malleability in situations. I believe that materials will play an even bigger role in our daily lives in the future, and it's important to consider sustainability and green energy in their development. I believe that advances in this field of engineering can have a positive impact on various other engineering disciplines, including naval, aerospace, and civil engineering.During my Master's degree, I gained a deeper understanding of organic compounds and polymer synthesis, as well as hands-on experience in the laboratory using different microscopy and spectroscopy techniques. I conducted research under Dr. Pinar Akcora on the diffusivity of PAA grafted cellulose nanocrystals, and worked on two other projects, including redesigning a cigarette filter and creating a responsive piezoelectric laminate with guidance from Dr. Nicholas Payne of the US Army. These experiences have further fueled my interest in combining the control and versatility of polymers with sustainable raw materials to minimize environmental impact.I am continuing into the next stage of my career by working at Tesla as an Process R&D Engineering Technician. I am extremely interested in pursuing my PhD in green materials sciences and continuing my career growth in the green energy, sustainability, or CCUS sectors of the chemical engineering industry.
