Responsible for departments and programs that ensure equitable opportunities and successful outcomes for all students. These include Indian Education, Homeless and Highly Mobile, Safe and Drug-free Schools, Behavior Standards Initiative/Positive School-wide Engagement, Extended Learning, Family Resource Centers and Response to Intervention/Multi-Tiered Systems of Support.

In this role, I led a department dedicated to increasing the educational success of approximately 1800 American Indian students in the Minneapolis Public Schools. Focus areas of our work include youth and parent engagement, enhancing quality instruction through curriculum development and the professional development of teachers, communication, fund development and engagement with the community. The major force behind the work is the Memorandum of Agreement, a one of its kind effort between the Minneapolis Public School Board and the Minneapolis American Indian Community-represented by the Metropolitan Urban Indian Directors- which outlines the shared commitment to improved outcomes for Native students. Named 2012's Outstanding American Indian Administrator by the Minnesota Indian Education Association in October 2012.

In this role I worked as an internal consultant to MPS to build interdepartmental collaborations centered in youth and family engagement.

The YCB is an intergovernmental organization made up of the city the county, the Schools, the Parks and the libraries, along with the chief juvenile judge and two state legislators, designated to align policies and implement and oversee collaborations focused on youth in Minneapolis. In this role, I led efforts to coordinate youth policy across multiple jurisdictions, managed 7 Family Resource Centers to support a community-school model, and led the It's All About the Kids housing and school stability partnership.

In this role, I led Family Resource Centers across 7 co-located school locations in Minneapolis Public Schools, designed to bring wrap-around community resources to support students. I managed school attendance grant initiatives, and the It's All About the Kids housing and school stability collaborative.
