Mr. Grant Gao holds the position of Managing Director and Portfolio Manager at EJF Capital, where he specializes in long/short and event-driven strategies across U.S. financial equities, high-yield credit, and structured products. He also possesses in-depth expertise in Asia and emerging markets and plays a pivotal role in primary market transactions. Before this, he distinguished himself as a generalist in China equities besides the financial service coverage. Notably, he was integral to the establishment of EJF operations in China in 2012 and has since ascended to the role of CEO of EJF China. Mr. Gao holds prominent positions within EJF Capital, serving as an Investment Committee member and portfolio manager for several flagship vehicles. Academically, he boasts a B.S. in Economics from Renmin University of China, an M.S. in Finance from the University of Rochester, and obtained his MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Further enhancing his credentials, Mr. Gao is a CFA charter holder and a certified FRM. Bilingual in nature, he communicates effortlessly in both Mandarin (native) and English (fluent).Furthering his commitment to societal impact, Grant Gao chairs the board of trustees of the non-profit Innoview Foundation and serves as the Chair of the board of directors for the social e-commerce startup, Nextt Group Inc.
