I am an academic and artist at University of Plymouth and Associate Professor in Digital Arts and Associate Head of School for Graduate Affairs in the School of Art, Design and Architecture.My specialisms are situated in Art and Science and Sound Art. I ran a series of symposia, NeuroArts in Sydney, Istanbul, and Plymouth. I have written a chapter for a 3 volume Encyclopaedia of New Media Art by Bloomsbury, 2024. I have an excellent record of successful practice-based PhD supervision and have examined many PhDs. At its core were concepts of extended and distributed consciousness. Ghost, 2011 (Grant) which was premiered at ISEA in Istanbul and the Istanbul Biennale. And Plasticity 2011 (Grant Matthias Ryan Hodsgon Kin) premiered at onedotzero, BFI and Google.Soft Moon 2010, (Grant Kin) a CGI film about the forming of the earth-moon-system.Fathom 2013 and Fathom Atlantic, 2018 (Grant Honywill Matthias) created a sonic surface, 6ft above the floor of in RWY and Devil’s Point and featured on BBC3 show Late Junction. The film Fathom was featured in It Sounds Like Art, in Istanbul. This Excited Surface 2018 (Grant), a site-specific sonic artwork for camera obscuras which interweaves a spoken narrative about desire with solar physics.Between Us 2019 (Grant) an AR immersive artwork with voice, sound and haptics made whilst a Fellow at SWCTN and premiered at ISEA, Korea and Watershed, Bristol. I am currently working on a book and artwork called How to Disappear about literary and astrophysical narratives of the multiverse.
