After completing my degree at University, obtaining my degree in Computers, Management and Electronics (B.Eng Hons) I began my career in IT working in an IT department for Kleinwort Benson in Guernsey. After only a year the limitations of the building infrastructure warranted me to move onto a wider scope. At this time I joined Valley Computer Services Limited. Remaining here for 9 years, the work at Valley exposed me to a much wider range of IT related services, everything from Home User supports through to Sales / Infrastructure Design and Small to Medium size Business Support. As my knowledge broadened, I realised I wanted more exposure to larger scale environments. As such I began my career at Itex in the role of IT Support Engineer. Remaining here for a number of years, the work here gave me the exposure I desired to WAN's, eGaming infrastructure and much larger scale deployments. During this time I also became a fully qualified Sun engineer and completed my MCSA as part of the continual training that Itex provided to maintain its HP Certification and Microsoft Certification. I then moved onto working as IT Manager for Marlborough Trust. I was a singular IT staff performing managerial duties whilst acting as an Engineer for the daily requirements. This transitioned to Head of IT for BIS where I continued on in the same role but providing IT services for a multitude of other companies. After the formation of BITS (Business IT Services) which operated for nearly 3 years, I moved on to an intriguing role with Alternative Solutions as their Information Security Consultant. This role builds upon my wide experience in IT to provide security based consultancy to ASL's client base.As part of my role at ASL, I also have to maintain my ECSA v10 Practical (EC-Council Security Analyst) which supports my role as an IASME Governance and Cyber Essentials Plus Lead auditor as part of my consultancy role. This role has been interesting and diverse, dealing with various sectors and different types of clients across multiple jurisdictions and with varying regulatory requirements. This has led me to my current role as Head of Information Security at Clarity Limited. Further developing the skills and deliverables from an ever growing business and department.

It ManagerMarlborough Feb 2011 - Dec 2015Marlborough GroupI joined Marlborough as i felt it was the next step in my personal progression. The job itself is a continually evolving one with each day bringing new challenges and demands on my own skills. When i first joined, I had plenty of experience delivering knowledge based solutions to any client demand and this was my speciality. However the new role meant that whilst my client base reduced dramatically my daily role would extend into new areas of development for myself. The new areas were areas that i have always been involved in, but not in any official form.Supporting Marlborough and its remote sites and users was a simple step from my previous role at Itex. The largest changes came from no longer being a team of workers to provide a solution to a client, it was now my responsibility solely to find and source any solution required. This has meant rebuilding the entire Marlborough infrastructure onto new platforms to move with the times, development of Microsoft CRM portals, SQL queries admin and maintenance, WAN designs combining VPN and tunnelling access for remote sites, Terminal Server deployments for remote users, whilst continuing to deploy new desktop machines across the network, budgetting and managing outsourced resources, to name but a few of the daily tasks.I thoroughly enjoy my role at Marlborough simply for the massively varied experiences i receive.

Support Engineer / ConsultantItex 2007 - 2011My primary job role was as a Senior Consultant / Engineer. My daily role was primary support for a helpdesk that included E-Licenced gaming platforms / worldwide company systems as well as our datacentre hosted support calls. With clients from around the world, the requirements meant that i was oncall with regular call outs to troubleshoot and fix problems being suffered by these companies. The troubleshooting would and did involve comms / WAN connectivity / firewall / DNS related issues all the way through to physical equipment support including array failure / virtual server failure, switch failures, printers, AD systems. This included all types of hardware, familar and unfamilar types that my experience history gave me the ability to troubleshoot with little or no direct experience of a product. In the situation where a new client was being dealt with by the Sales team, I would be the attending consultant to review that clients requirements and needs from Itex.

Senior Systems EngineerValley Computer Services Ltd 1998 - 2007I joined Valley as a lowly trainee engineer. My job role began with troubleshooting and building client / business computers. This then extended into networking and brodband / lease line installations. Further on down the line i completed my MCP in 3 subjects and then began deploying small business solutions for clients usually under 50 members of staff. As my knowledge base improved, my position became elevated to Senior Systems Engineer. I was in this role for the final 3 - 4 years of my time at Valley. This role included job assignments to other engineers and management of them, singular point of contact for high priority clients. I was fully involved in sales to clients and home users, even businesses. I became a singular point of completion for any IT related task that the client would have. This even included clients flying me around the world to various locations to fix or build IT solutions for them. Thoroughly enjoyable! At this point i became aware that my exposure to IT related items was tending towards the smaller to medium sized business.Hence my move to Itex to give me more exposure to large / extremely large sized business related IT.

System AdministratorKleinwort Benson Ltd 1997 - 1998A summer job at KB when i was still at university, was my first exposure to IT. The job role was to take building plans on paper and build them into Visio, then build appropriate models (all to scale) of desks / chairs / tables etc so that staff could then use Visio to do internal desk move plans. I was given 8 weeks to complete the job, with no experience of this product or type of work, i completed it in under 2 weeks. KB were so happy that they retained me to train their staff in how to use Visio for the remainder of that summer. When i finished university, KB sent me an offer to join their IT department as an administrator on their systems. I agreed and began my tutelage under Mark Ireland.Within 3 months i was the primary IT contact in the department, with the skills to resolve most if not all problems found around the building.
