Profile bio

About Grant Mak

I burn like a fire - full of life and zeal, and constantly growing. I've always chased after all of my passions with everything I have. I remember spending all of my playtime as a kid catching all 151 Pokémon, researching for hours every week to win my fantasy sports leagues, and playing the same 8 measures of Chopin for two weeks straight until it was perfect (sorry, Mom and Dad). Once something lights a spark in me, my enthusiasm cannot be doused. Like a flame burning through firewood, I don't stop until I see something through to totality. Also like a fire, there is nothing I love more than growing and spreading my horizons. I love learning - whether it be acquiring new knowledge or expanding upon old knowledge - and I never want to stop learning. This carried me through my time at Duke. I had professors, colleagues, books, computers; I had access to an infinite amount of resources, fueling the fire in me to grow and learn every day.Now that I'm in industry, the fire in me is still burning as strong as ever. Every day, I get to collaborate with brilliant individuals, learning key insights from them along the way, as well as having access to courses to learn more on my own time. On the other hand, I get to explore my passion for coding by working on some amazing projects. In just over a year, I have: - Completely overhauled the front and back end of an internal logging service - Led a 48 hour effort to redesign a webpage for an internal hackathon - Helped design a new rating algorithm for the Garmin ConnectIQ Store - Acted as the main software developer for a Key Performance Indicator collection serviceSkills: Python | Java | C++ | SQL | HTML | CSS | Javascript | Typescript | Git | MATLABDatabases: MySQL | SQLServer | MongoDBFrameworks: Angular | Spring
