Directed a team of 2 IT professionals in the provision of all networking hardware and software for the national office of this major not for profit organization. Migrated the platform from virtually no security, and outdated hardware/software to a state of the art site. Specific accomplishments include: • Brought awareness of the needs for SOTA IT to the organization. Evaluated requirements, made recommendations and gained approval for budget expenditures. Integrated a legacy Novell network with new Windows server with 65 workstations conducting Web based WAN for remote access across Canada. Installed a DHCP server, 3 file servers (1 in Ottawa), MS Exchange Server, MS SQL Server for the database, an Intranet server running NT and SMS server for software distribution.• Standardized the National office to MS Office consolidating a smorgasbord of desktop products which prevented communications. Led and hands on replaced all workstations in both offices, Toronto and Ottawa. Evaluated and selected Compaq hardware and MS software. Consulted with all end users and ensured compliance with the provincial divisions of the Society.• Implemented a Secure Computing firewall which saved the need for a local email server in the Ottawa office. Configured VPN's through the internet and saved data lines between the 2 cities. Tested for latency (delays), breaches prior to the recommendation. This success is the delivery of secure email where none existed. • Selected the Windows with Exchange and SQL Server database infrastructure to support custom system with the ability to integrate applications across the country to migrate from legacy. • Upgraded the telephone system from a key system to PBX with a switch Meridian 11c and Call Pilot, a state of the art voice/fax/email integrated product using Outlook 98.• At the request of the Nova Scotia Provincial Association, performed analysis and prepared a completed strategic plan for 3 offices across the province.

( total team of 10) for this long distance reseller in a Windows NT/Novell environment. Conducted contract negotiations with outside vendors. Grew ACC’s local area network from a small single building network to a Canada wide WAN. Selected, installed, implemented and led the support of the Wan with primarily Cisco 2500 series hardware, with a single Cisco 7000 and 4000 as primary routers, connected via Nortel’s Magellan Passport Frame Relay hardware. Duties included the design and implementation, of this internal system. With continued explosive growth, more client server systems were required to service ACC’s increasing demand on IT services.Supported a mix of UNIX, Microsoft NT 3.51 and 4.0, along with Novell’s Netware servers (3.12, 4.10 and 4.11) are utilized in this distributed network. LAN topologies in both major offices in Toronto are based on ether switches. The primary office (300+ users) was based on Cabletron’s MMAC Plus Ether switch; the other major office (150+ users) was based on Bay Networks ether switch.
