How many people in Africa speak English or French or another European language as their first language? It may surprise you to learn that only 0.5% of Africans speak English as their mother tongue which pales in comparison to the many other African languages that people speak. At iAfrika Digital we’re working to make the web more African. This means creating cultural and educational platforms for African language speakers. Each year they welcome over 1.8 million visitors who access our resources over 5.8 million times. Developing these platforms has required research, development and co-design with our users including: - PhD research on language, history and culture and the web in Africa - Over 23,000 surveys with African language speakers to understand their needs and to deliver products that are fit for market.Do you want to engage African language speakers in their mother tongue languages?
