I led a team of technical experts collaborating with institutional-scale investment managers to identify and implement innovative approaches for protecting and restoring nature on three continents. My work spanned deal origination and structuring, diligence, and asset management with a focus on developing spatial tools and bespoke strategies to maximize conservation outcomes across a wide variety of business models.

As a member of the Sustainable Water Impact Fund team at The Nature Conservancy, I helped determine the conservation priorities of the Fund and conducted due diligence on all deals considered for the portfolio. I provided technical support intended to maximize the fund’s ability to protect and restore nature alongside market-rate returns on three continents. I also led the product development of innovative spatial and data management tools used to inform and rigorously evaluate conservation priorities and outcomes.

Supported the development of foundational processes and products for a pioneering new partnership, the Sustainable Water Impact Fund. Provided project management and technical support on a variety of initiatives through the launch and fundraising of the fund and the closing of the fund’s first deals.

Brought an entrepreneurial approach to the executive office where I initiated process improvements and project managed programs of strategic importance including Board of Trustees Committees. Provided nimble, responsive, and proactive support to the Executive Director of the California Chapter, the largest chapter in the Conservancy, and the Global Fisheries team, which operates in 15 countries. Taught two sections of "Environmental Policy and Law" for Dr. John Wargo. Trained students to analyze environmental law and probe deeply into the public policy decisions that affect environmental health.

Supported Professor Bradford Gentry in his new position as Associate Dean for Professional Practice at Yale F&ES. Responsibilities broadly covered efforts to enhance the professional skills development programs available at F&ES and collaboration with the Yale School of Management.

Facilitated weekly discussions and trained students to think scientifically. Delved deeply into the ethical dimensions of conservation and the difficult tradeoffs between biodiversity protection and economic development.

Lima, Peru

Over the summer of 2014, I interned with Conservamos por Naturaleza (We Conserve by/for Nature) in Lima, Peru. Conservamos is a small NGO active in promoting conservation throughout Peru. They provide support for private and community-based conservation areas and are active in encouraging Peruvians to live more sustainably. My role was to help with project management, strategic planning, and communications. The class focused on the extreme challenges of environmental law. The laws seek to protect ecological and human health without over-regulation that stifles economic development. The students were trained to analyze environmental law and probe deeply into the public policy decisions that affect environmental health.
