Staffed to support specific transplant centers using Epic's Phoenix transplant application. This includes troubleshooting any software issues, implementing any system enhancements, and designing any customer specific requests. I also assist transplant centers installing Phoenix to convert data from their old system to fit Epic's database structure. I serve in several internal roles as well, working as a mentor to new hires, and have improved our training materials for them. I've also been involved on our team's social committee

I had the opportunity to work with several groups in my internship at Burns & McDonnell. For the OnSite Energy Power group, I assisted with design work for combined heat and power plants, and substations. In this work, I strengthened my understanding of AutoCad and Microstation.For the Transmission and Distribution group, I learned how to perform lightning protection analyses, based on the IEEE rolling sphere method. I analyzed several substations, using AutoCad and MathCad, and presented them in reports for clients.I also gained some experience with the Global Facilities Services team. Specifically, I ran a generator report for an airport hangar to find the maximum load demand.

I worked on the internal help desk for Reynolds and Reynolds. My main duties consisted of trouble shooting computer hardware, software, or connection issues. Also, my team and I would image and configure laptops to send out to employees in the field. I learned how to solve technical issues, even when the problem was outside my expertise.

At this internship, I was introduced to power, lighting, fire alarm, and communications engineering design for facilities. For our Hobby Airport terminal expansion, I learned how to use Revit for our design work, and I also learned National Electric Codes (NEC), which were critical to our designs. I was fortunate enough to get to take site visits to multiple project sites for equipment inspect, analyzing conduit routing, and checking electrical rooms to see if they met code requirements. I also worked on a project where I used AutoCad for power and lighting design. For both projects, I learned how to format packages for submitting, and working with other groups to meet deadlines.

I was based in the electrical shop for the summer, where I learned how to keep track of electrical equipment testing among field technicians. Often times, this meant driving to one site, picking up equipment from a technician, and delivering it to another technician at a different site. While in the shop, we built CT testers. In doing this, I gained some experience wiring, and was also taught how to solder. I also combined the electrical equipment online databases of multiple locations into one centralized database in order to keep better track of the equipment.

I worked part-time as an office assistant to the Safety and Billing departments. My day-to-day work consisted of filing and entering drivers' logs into a computer database, verifying that they met Texas DOT guidelines. I was also given projects, such as assisting the Collections department in sorting through clients and running background checks on driver applicants.

I tutored several high school students in math, specifically geometry and algebra.
