I’m an Entrepreneur & Economist that loves solving problems. I have spent my career in Heavy Industry, and really love Labor problems. I spent the first 8 years of my career building econometric models for mining, construction, agriculture, telecommunications, etc. Now, with Bulldog I am focused on solving problems in the Trucking Industry. I have enjoyed building a deep understanding of the industry, its trends, and Drivers. My philosophy when building solutions is: 👨‍🏫 Study before You Solve. The most efficient way to solve a problem is to slow down and study it. That way you can build something that works. Effectiveness is as important as efficiency. 🏈 The Last Mile is the Hardest. You have to save enough energy and budget to go the last mile. You can have 99% of a solution built, but if you fumble any step you won’t get the right result.🌾 Don’t Rush Time. Timeliness is Godliness, except when you are building solutions to complex problems you need time. You have to leave time for multiple versions, otherwise you are gambling. And you will probably fail if your first version has to be perfect. 📊 Understand the Shape of the Math. Results aren’t linear; just ask compound interest. Instead, most things are complex functions of variables, relationships, leads, lags, and transformations over time. Understanding the shape of the math is critical for being able to detect signals vs. noise. And the earlier you are in the process the more sensitive you need to be to what matters and what is noise. This has informed how we have built Bulldog. We spent 3 years refining our model at one company, and then slowly started expanding. We work as a Shared Services Department. This allows us to learn across all of our Fleets. Plus, we are constantly exploring new capabilities — developing, testing and refining. Plus, Bulldog never copy-and-pastes. Everything we build is custom for your Fleet. We learn across all of our fleets, but what we build is unique to you. And it all starts by getting to know you, your Staff, and your Drivers. This allows us to build a recruiting system that closes the loop, and produces results. It takes time, but it has paid off for our tenured clients.
