About Grant Gaither
Fulbright Program:During the 2014 - 2015 school year, I worked as an English Teaching Assistant for the Fulbright Program in Madrid, Spain. Responsibilities included teaching English, social studies, natural science, and civics to over 200 students in a newly bilingual school. I prepared 15 advanced English language students for a Model United Nations competition by teaching research, persuasive writing, public speaking, and debate skills. I also acted as a cultural ambassador at events hosted by the U.S. Department of State and Spanish Embassy. Acceptance into the Fulbright Program is highly competitive and merit-based; its alumni include 53 Nobel Prize winners and 78 Pulitzer Prize winners. Claremont McKenna College:While attending Claremont McKenna College, I obtained an honors degree in neuroscience. For my achievements in liberal arts and sciences, I was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, the oldest honor society in the United States. Additionally, I was accepted into the Robert Day Scholars Program, a highly competitive program designed for students demonstrating both academic excellence and leadership potential. Students receive a scholarship upon acceptance and complete coursework in economics, accounting, finance, organizational psychology, and leadership studies. Accepted students also attend leadership development activities, such as guest speaker lectures, networking trips, and workshops designed to prepare students for leadership roles in industry. Both junior and senior years of college, I received the Rose Hills Foundation Science and Engineering Scholarship for my work in neuroscience. I was also active in student organizations throughout my four years at Claremont McKenna, leading our chapter of the American Medical Student Association as the Claremont Liaison and acting as a Brigade Leader for the Claremont chapter of MEDLIFE, an international nonprofit focusing on sustainable development of medical infrastructure in South America.
