Machinist, Programmer, Entrepreneur, Author in roughly that order.Started as drill press operator and rose over 12 years to journeyman machinist before going to college and getting a BS in electrical engineering from the U of MN. Moved into software programming, eventually co-founding CareFacts Information Systems, Inc. with my wife, Sandra. We ran that with others for 19 years, selling Electronic Health Record software to the home care, hospice, and public health industries, before successfully selling it off in 2010. Our second effort, Datuit LLC, was not able to successfully sell API platform software to the healthcare industry. It continues as a consulting company actively involved in promoting platform-first API-driven solutions in healthcare, an architecture which is beginning to gain traction, particularly in Europe. I returned to the corporate world in 2018 as a Senior Software Developer for SPS Commerce, Inc. before retiring in June 2023. I am now doing research for a book I hope to write on living in the modern world. If I come up with anything useful, I’ll let you know.
