I am a true Full Stack engineer that enjoys building systems from the ground up. Specifically, I am proficient at understanding how all of the components of a system interact and using that understanding to drive technical design in each specific area in the stack. I have designed backend systems such as media servers, signaling systems such as web socket gateways, gRPC based services, SDK's and front-end applications utilizing those same SDK's. I have experience with monolithic and micro-service based architectures and have extensive experience in writing and deploying Kubernetes manifests as well as debugging Kubernetes deployments. I have extensive experience in online video, specifically real-time communication but I also have deep experience in distributed systems design, database technology and developing and deploying software at scale.Through my previous experience I have learned that I love to bring a product mindset to engineering. Working to bridge the gap between product managers and engineers and using product decisions to drive engineering efforts and vice versa. With over 3 years of experience at startups I consider my experience to be more akin to dog years. The fast paced environment allows for quicker personal growth and my influence at these companies has allowed me to build skills that traditional companies would not have. I enjoy fast paced, collaborative working environments with green field products or new technologies.

Software EngineerMux Apr 2021 - Jan 2023San Francisco, California, UsWorking in a fast paced environment like the one at Mux provides a lot of room for growth. So far, in my time here I have been able to be a core contributor to two main product areas spanning the entire development stack. From low level implementation details to high level product design influenced by customer feedback. Mux Web Inputs:Mux Web Inputs is a headless chrome based streaming solution that allows anyone to go live from a browser. It is especially good at live streaming interactive real-time video calls allowing them to reach a larger audience. As one of the core engineers on this project I took part in the product design, architecture, implementation and deployment. I also worked to transfer ownership of this product to a new team including documentation and onboarding of more engineers.Mux Real-Time Video:As the first engineer hired onto the Real-Time team I have played a critical role in the product design and architecture of the system. We started from scratch when developing this product and therefore had to design the system from the ground up. I worked directly with staff engineers to design and implement components of the system. I also worked with management to scale the team from 1 to 10 people. Some core skills developed here are distributed systems design, kubernetes deployment and networking and scaling distributed systems. -
