I was responsible for running and maintaining UHV systems. My work primarily involved collaborative experimental design, followed by setting up, running, and troubleshooting experiments for both novel methods to improve performance of a thermionic diode as well as optimizing parameters for operating the thermionic diode.Some of the instruments I used included mass spectrometers, QCMs, various pieces of vacuum hardware, roughing and turbo pumps, etc. I also interfaced electronic systems, adjusted python scripts for each experiment, analyzed data, conducted literature reviews, and presented results each week to plan future experiments.

Conducted research in the Jiao lab in the Mechanical and Materials Engineering. The projects I contributed to involved optimization of graphene synthesis directly on dielectric substrates. My work included experimental design, sample processing, sample characterization, data analysis, and presentation. Synthesis involved use of chemical vapor deposition with an inductively coupled remote plasma. Characterization mainly involved the use of atomic force microscopy and Raman spectroscopy.
