Worked cooperatively with the Bureau of Land Management to conduct land health assessment surveys of rangelands in northern Nevada. Sampling methods included line point intercept, plant species inventory, soil pit description/analysis, soil stability tests, and qualitative assessment. Surveys were conducted using the BLM's Assessment, Inventory, and Monitoring protocol along with Interpreting Indicators of Rangeland Health. Also assisted with some surveys to asses Proper Functioning Condition of riparian areas. Worked regularly in ArcGIS, Microsoft Access, and Microsoft Excel.

Worked 12-15 hour days in frequently adverse weather conditions on a 35-foot commercial trolling vessel. Responsible for cleaning and organizing gear, running lines, landing and cleaning fish, and piloting the boat.

Assisted in collecting and analyzing lake sediment cores for use in a variety of paleoclimate studies. Conducted an individual research project studying the use of inorganic carbon concentration in lake sediments as a proxy for glacial advance and retreat.

Led groups of 8-22 people on 2.5-5 hour nature hikes and whale-watching tours in Juneau, Alaska. Was responsible for group safety and education on local natural history. Assisted with running Citizen Science programs involving inventory and ID of humpback whales, marine invasive species and benthic macro invertebrates.
