About Grayson Hopper
As a recent graduate from Emory University, where I majored in Political Science and Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, I am very interested in the intersection of worker's rights, unions, education, and the policy that surrounds these fields. Through past experience that focused on client and customer relations, I have learned the invaluable skills such as strategic communications and focused outreach, but also more tangible skills like database management and G and Microsoft Suite interfaces. I am passionate about education, and through my past work as a support teacher and the day to day management of a school, I have gained crucial interpersonal and problem solving skills that have not only benefitted me in professional settings, but in my everyday relationships. At Emory, I have studied policymaking and the types of decisions that go into the process and sometimes the lack of experience and care that can disaffect the livelihoods of workers, especially in the education field. I am pursuing a career that works to fix that process. Ideally, I would like to one day synthesize my experiences in and out of classroom with my knowledge of the political system to support worker's rights for teachers and support a positive school experience for students. For now, I am looking to learn as much as I can about every aspect of both of those fields, and working hard to gain the skills and experience necessary to truly be able to understand the problems that need to be fixed and how to fix them. I am working to earn my Texas teaching certificate through an asynchronous online program and afterwards, an International Baccalaureate Teaching and Learning certificate to be able to pursue education anywhere in the world. Outside of my career pursuits, I am very interested in music, travel, and all things pop culture, I'm also a recent sports fan and have mostly been following Formula 1 and Premier League Soccer. Also, I have recently moved back to my hometown of Amarillo, Texas and I'm enjoying the freedom of familiarity while still discovering what's new since I've been gone!
